Our history and our future
The name Ravenskelf is rooted in local history, with links to the old name for Ranskill and a meaning often described as “ridge of the raven.” For us, apart from being the village we call home, that meaning feels deeply connected to what Ravenskelf exists to do. The raven represents insight, awareness and intelligent perspective; the ridge represents a place to pause, look across the landscape and see the way forward more clearly. Ravenskelf brings those ideas together: helping people, leaders, teams and organisations step back from the complexity of change and performance, understand what is really happening, and move forward with confidence, purpose and practical direction.
Ravenskelf represents 35 years of preparation to fulfil a dream: bringing together leadership experience, change expertise, innovative business improvement, coaching practice and a deep belief that the process succeeds when people are properly supported. The name reflects the qualities we bring to every conversation: perspective, insight, steadiness and practical direction. Ravenskelf exists to help individuals and organisations make sense of change and move forward with confidence, clarity and purpose. The business has been specially designed to be both accessible, flexible and scalable. We can work with individuals who just need help with change, right through to multi-location corporate clients facing into the need for improvement or transformation. We do this by utilising a portfolio of experienced, and highly successful team members we call upon as and when we need them.
Our ambition is for Ravenskelf to become a recognised centre for practical transformational support. By bringing together coaching, innovative improvement expertise, learning design and cultural development, we aim to help people and organisations build lasting change capability — not through theory alone, but through meaningful support, structured practice and tools that make change easier to understand, lead and sustain.
Meet Carl, founder of Ravenskelf
Thanks for visiting our site. I’m Carl, the founder of Ravenskelf which brings together more than 30 years of management experience, over 15 years in change, transformation and operational leadership, and a deep belief that change, whether personal or professional, works best when people are properly supported. With an MBA in Leadership, a BSc in Computing & IT with Business, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Management Services specialist and an ICF-accredited coach, my goal is to see this business blend practical business improvement with human-centred coaching. Ravenskelf reflects my commitment to helping people, leaders, teams and organisations make sense of change, build confidence and move forward with clarity, care and purpose.
The RAVEN model
Built from years of hands-on experience and continuous learning, the RAVEN model brings together the coaching and business improvement foundations of Ravenskelf. It helps turn complex or challenging transformations into something people can understand, work with and act upon with confidence. Each stream has value in its own right, but when combined, they create an integrated approach that supports clarity, confidence, capability and sustained improvement in real-world situations.
